The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials is currently hiring a Digital Content Manager, a full-time position located in our Washington, DC office.
\n \nNature of Position:
\nReporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Digital Content Manager is responsible for the development and management of AASHTO's web presence, ensuring the Association’s digital content is engaging, accurate, current, brand-aligned, and strategically positioned to advance organizational goals and member needs. As the Association’s most visible and far-reaching communications platform, the AASHTO website is a critical tool for delivering timely information and resources to members, partners, and the broader transportation community, making this position essential to how AASHTO connects with and serves its audiences.
\n \nThe Digital Content Manager manages the day-to-day operation of AASHTO's web content and is responsible for updates and improvements to content and the overall user experience. The individual supports Association-wide web projects from planning through launch, coordinating content planning and information architecture in support of AASHTO's web content strategy. The Digital Content Manager establishes and maintains cross-departmental relationships and partners with staff to recommend web content and interactive tools based on business needs, ensuring consistency throughout AASHTO’s digital platforms. In carrying out these responsibilities, the individual must understand the technical implications of proposed projects, anticipate and resolve potential challenges, and make recommendations accordingly.
\n \nThe Digital Content Manager tracks and analyzes site performance to inform ongoing improvements, assisting the marketing team with quarterly stats for committees, technical service programs, news products, and other site pages as needed. The individual will also make content recommendations based off those analytics to AASHTO staff while also recommending web content that is more valuable to users and improve search engine optimization (SEO) for members and the transportation community.
\n \nThis role will monitor the AASHTO Jobs Board—a transportation-related jobs listing site AASHTO offers as a member service—on a daily basis, reviewing and accepting submittals from AASHTO members and paid submittals from non-members while assisting customers with any issues pertaining to the site. The incumbent will also assist in customer service issues with current and future vendors. In addition, this individual will manage the AASHTO intranet, working with AASHTO divisions to update the site with the most up-to-date and relevant information for staff, elevating it to be a “one-stop” resource for all necessary forms/policies/information. Additionally, this position is tasked with developing and maintaining an association-wide calendar of events and meetings to encourage cross-functional collaboration among staff.
\n \nThis role must maintain strong relationships with the IT division to ensure alignment and coordination on all web projects, and also to coordinate content updates across multiple web properties as needed.
\n \nPosition Requirements:
\nThe successful candidate will have a minimum of seven years of web-content experience working on a communications or marketing team, with demonstrable growth in responsibilities. In addition, the successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, web design, or a related field. A similar level of experience may substitute for education.
\n \nThe incumbent must have a proven ability to manage cross-functional projects efficiently while collaborating with staff. They should have experience in digital marketing and web platforms, including modern web technologies and social media platforms. The incumbent should be skilled in WordPress and its associated plugins, Microsoft 365 SharePoint, and image/graphic editing tools. Experience with Google Analytics will be essential for the role.
